We’re fighting to make housing more affordable in Texas.

Texas can’t keep up with its rapid population growth.

Texas can’t keep up with its rapid population growth. More people are moving here every year, but lawmakers and local policies are making it harder to build new homes and generate new energy.
This red tape is hurting middle-class families, first responders, seniors, and hardworking Texans who just want an affordable place to live.

The Numbers Don’t Lie.

  • Texas is currently short by ~300,000 homes, yet annual construction permits are projected at only 165,000 single-family units.

  • Home prices are up more than 30% over the past couple of years

  • 3 of the 7 most under-housed U.S. cities are in Texas.

  • Suffocating land-use restrictions

  • Endless bureaucratic delays

  • Unpredictable approval processes that slow down construction and increase costs

Our Work in 2025

In 2025, we took major steps toward improving housing affordability by working with lawmakers to pass Senate Bill 15 (SB15) — legislation designed to expand housing supply and lower costs. SB15 limits local governments from imposing restrictions on smaller lots and accessory dwelling units (ADUs), allowing more Texans to build attainable homes for their families.

On June 20th, the bill was signed into law by the Governor, marking a victory for housing accessibility. But the fight isn’t over. Some local governments are now proposing “luxury-style” mandates that would once again drive up costs and price out the very people these policies were meant to help. Meanwhile, rising energy costs continue to put additional strain on Texas residents already struggling to make ends meet.
